Esther is passionate about organic food. In 1978, she settled in Ireland and created an eco-friendly resort, on 17 acres of rugged Galway land, with the desire to welcome guests to a nature based, sustainable place where you can relax in comfort surrounded by nature. The organic garden was and still is central to all that Esther believes in and offers. The certified organic restaurant, the only one in the West of Ireland and the certified organic vegetable & fruit garden are widely recognised for their green practices and policies.
About The Experience
Esther, her chefs and foraging experts will bring you to the organic garden and the forests and fields where you will harvest organic fruit and veg, herbs and wild plants. These will be the ingredients for the next phase of your experience, which is to cook what you have gathered. Depending on the month, you will join Esther and her team in making wild garlic pesto, nettle & organic vegetable soup, dried herbs and teas, jams, flavourful colourful and nutritious salads, syrups and juices, sautéed mushrooms and more. Now you will taste your delicious creations at a family style, buffet lunch and be truly inspired to see what you can cook from nature.
What Else Do You Need To Know
Suitable for coeliacs and vegans.
Dress for the outdoors, including sturdy hiking boots. You will need a change of shoes and apron for the kitchen.
Walking distance depends on what we are harvesting but could be up to 5 km and terrain can be rough.
For the cooking phase long hair needs to be tied back.
